Amuor Pacifique and his family fled from conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where more than 5.4 million people died, many from starvation and disease.
After 15 years as refugees in nearby Zambia, they were resettled in Lancaster, PA with the help of Church World Service. CWS assisted them in finding housing, employment, education, social support and more. The Pacifique’s also received CWS Blankets and Kits to help with their new start in the U.S.
Amuor and his family feel at home now, thanks in many ways to the generous material goods and social services they received. They are adjusting to a new life and have hope in a better future.
